New Authority Setup
Carriers must have the appropriate operating authority from the FMCSA to transport goods or passengers interstate. Operating a CMV without a proper operating authority can result in fines up to $25,000.
International Fuel Tax Agreement
Carriers are required to file quarterly fuel tax reports detailing their operations and fuel purchases. Failure to comply with IFTA reporting requirements can result in various penalties including fines, interest charged, and license revocation.
Motor Carrier ID Report
Carriers are required to submit the MCS-150 form before commencing operations and update it every 24 months. Failure to complete the biennial update can result in the deactivation of the carrier's USDOT number and fines up to $10,000.
New Entrant Safety Audit
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) conducts safety audits within the first 18 months of operation. If a carrier fails or refuses the audit, or cannot be contacted, they will be placed out-of-service (OOS) prohibiting them from operating in interstate commerce.
Driver Qualification Files
Employers are required to maintain up-to-date qualification files for each driver, including employment application, driving records, and medical certifications. Failure to maintain these records can result in fines up to $9,600.
Drug and Alcohol Testing Program
Employers must have a testing program to ensure drivers are not under the influence of alcohol or controlled substances while operating commercial motor vehicles (CMVs). Failure to implement a Drug and Alcohol program can result in fines up to $14,739.
Let's face it, routine roadside DOT inspections are inevitable. Avoid unnecessarily high out-of-service (OOS) scores with our equipment inspection monitoring solution. Receive reminders when document renewal dates are in the near future to ensure a stress-free experience during traffic stops.
